Vision

To continue to be a prominent Northwest Yacht Club that promotes safe knowledgeable boating while building lasting relationships

Mission

  • To encourage and support a wide range of boating knowledge and activities.
  • To provide and maintain an excellent clubhouse and associated facilities for the recreational and social use for all members.
  • To provide FUN boating events, education, and social experiences through active club membership and community involvement while respecting our history, traditions and legacy.

Gig Harbor Yacht Club is celebrating boating in the South Sound since 1958, celebrating sixty years of friendship and happy boating. There is nothing we want more than to say;

  "Welcome Aboard!"

We are an active boating club with opportunities for both power and sail boaters.  We host, and participate in, predicted navigational regattas for power boats and sailboat races—including our informal races on Thursday evenings from May through September in the Harbor. Our club offers a monthly cruise for our members to locations throughout the Puget Sound, and there is nothing like the experience of participating in our holiday GHYC Lighted Boat Parade

For those who like to keep their feet dry, we host Social and Club Activities throughout the year.  Each month we gather at fun TGIFs and casual Dinner Meetings, often celebrating the holiday of the month, as well as a host of special events.  Each week there is a Men’s Lunch, and the Ladies Night Out several times a year brings the ladies together.  Other celebrations are simply not to be missed—such as the annual New Year’s Eve Spectacular, as well as our annual Commodore’s Ball celebrating the commitment of the Bridge.

Our club is a member of the Grand 14 yacht clubs of the Puget Sound, and many of our ladies enjoy attending WIC luncheons as they travel to other yacht clubs. Our members receive reciprocal privileges at over 90 yacht clubs in Washington, Oregon, Calif, Alaska, Hawaii and beyond.

We are careful, considerate mariners and commit ourselves to courtesy on the seas. There are regular education events to learn/refresh our boating skills and better understand just where to go and how to get there!  Oftentimes, over the summer at moorages near and far, you will encounter club members simply by hailing “Captain’s Gig” on the radio!

We are an all-volunteer directed and managed club—with the exception of our fabulous caterer!  The best way to get to know people is to get involved---your fun and friendships will grow according to your investment of time and talent.

Our leadership is provided by a volunteer Board of Directors, there are committees and other tasks seeking volunteers, and for those who truly can and will step up, going “through the chairs” as the Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore, Commodore and Immediate Past Commodore is an experience to be treasured.

So WELCOME ABOARD—we are happy to see you!
